The choice was:
- Sir Richard Branson
- David Cameron
- David Beckham
- Simon Cowell
- Gordon Brown
- Gordon Ramsay
- Posh Spice
- Sir Alan Sugar
- Madonna
- Jamie Oliver
- Kate Moss
- Prince William
- Chris Moyles
- Terry Wogan
- The Queen
- Paris Hilton
Clearly thinking of their stomachs and the need for an easy-going "pucker" housemate, the Brits would by an overwhelming majority choose Jamie Oliver. The star of numerous cookery shows and supermarket ads was chosen by 27% of Britons. We found 32% of women would prefer to share with Jamie and he was also ahead amongst men (19%). Every city covered in our survey except Newcastle and Sheffield also picked the celebrity chef and he was most popular in Belfast.
Good cooking can be spoiled by a few too many F-words though - Gordon Ramsey was chosen by just 8%.
Everyone's favourite business guru Sir Richard Branson emerged as Britain's second favourite to share space with. But you can't imagine sitting on the sofa watching The Apprentice with Sir Alan Sugar - his no-nonsense style appeals to just three per cent.
So who scores as the potential house mate you'd like to share with least? Clearly a good roast is more appealing than discussing the state of the nation and whether we should be hugging hoodies. Just 1.4% of Britons would like to share with Conservative Leader David Cameron who pipped Posh Spice to the title of Britain's least favourite housemate.
But cheer up David, Gordon Brown was only 1% more popular!
FON says - the Brits clearly know who they want to share their time with.
