The world is suddenly full of websites that want to share with you - but does the hype match the reality? Surprisingly despite the buzz surrounding it, the Brits picked YouTube as the most over-rated site on the internet.

Social networking sites including FaceBook (17%) and MySpace (16%) were also singled out as over-rated.

All age groups agree YouTube, MySpace and FaceBook are over-rated, while men are least impressed with YouTube.

So which sites live up to expectations according to the British? Google comes top along with Gumtree, Yahoo!, Wikipedia and Ask.
